Who was Anna Riwkin? Get to know one of Sweden’s most important photographers. Take a look at previously unknown photographs, photo albums and archival material from Anna Riwkin’s life. The material, long hidden in the Museum’s collection, was discovered in 2021 in a very poor condition. It is now on display for the first time, following careful restoration. Discover Anna Riwkin’s significant, though forgotten, portrayal of 20th century Jewish life in Sweden – a life which she both captured on camera and was herself a part of.
Anna Riwkin (1908–1970) is one of Sweden’s most renowned photographers. Her work spans four continents and four decades. Today, she is best known for her photobooks about children from different parts of the world and her portraits of Swedish as well as international cultural figures.
